Laura Tryon Jennings Moments By The Sea
Opening May 30, 2009 from 4pm - 6pm
Showing through July 26, 2009

Award-winning New England artist Laura Tryon Jennings’ work has been exhibited nationally and collected by, among others, Mary Higgins Clark, Bruce Hornsby, Joan Lunden and Harvard University.

Jennings spent her formative and university years in the U.S. and England. She draws artistic inspiration from coastal living, her three children and her relationship with her late mother. This relationship inspired her newest series, Moments, to be exhibited at the Elizabeth Moss Gallery in Falmouth, Maine this summer.

Jennings’ work captures both life’s chaotic turns and the pleasurable, simpler moments with swirls of vivid color and movement. An artist who can ingeniously play with light and darkness to reveal emotions, her paintings have been described as “psychologically interesting,” as well as “triumphantly intimate and extraordinary.”

Art Takes Flight: Maine Artists Capturing Birds
Vanessa Nesvig, Sue Shane, Margaret Ryan and William Janelle

Opening Reception and Plein Air Demonstration Saturday, May 9 at 3pm
Showing through May 30, 2009

Celebrate the return of spring and Maine’s native migratory birds with an avian-inspired show and a special plein air demonstration. From wetlands to forests to backyard feeders, wild birds animate our landscapes with color and song and inspire us with the mechanics and metaphors of flight. As curated by Elizabeth Moss, MA, the works of Art Takes Flight capture the beauty, fragility and wonder of birds. Join us for opening celebration on Saturday, May 9 that kicks off with a plein air demonstration by Vanessa Nesvig from 3pm to 4pm, and moves indoors for food, wine and fine art from 4pm to 6pm. Art Takes Flight runs through May 30, 2009.
